Choose plants that tolerate splash, sun, and foot traffic — and keep debris out of the water.
Pool landscaping has to look good and behave well: too much litter, thorns, or aggressive roots can turn a relaxing space into constant upkeep.
Favor plants that handle reflected heat and occasional splash, and keep messy bloomers or heavy shedders farther from the water. Leave clear circulation space around the deck, and use planting to screen equipment or neighboring views without blocking breezes.
Hardscape bands, gravel transitions, or low walls can separate lawn chemicals and grass clippings from the pool edge — a small planning detail that saves a lot of skimming later.
